ABOUT THE CARIBBEAN SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL ARUBA
On the 18th and 19th of August 2007 Aruba experienced the first Annual Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival. Cas di Cultura was the pounding heart of music in the Caribbean during this festival weekend. During this festival visitors got the chance to enjoy great Jazz music on three different stages and areas. The festival, a dream of Erik Eman, attracted visitors from as far as California who came to hear a number of legendary jazz musicians in two intensive evenings of improvisational music.
The concept surrounding the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival is inspired by the North Sea Jazz Festival, a creation of Paul Acket, hich takes place in the Netherlands every summer.
The well known Aruba Jazz & Latin Music festival which took place from 1986 till 2001 could be seen as a predecessor of the new Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival. The Aruba Jazz and
Latin Music Festival was an enormous success, for the inhabitants and visitors of Aruba alike and a similar festival was needed on the Island Aruba.
Famous featured performers such as Michel Camilo, Praful, Randal Corsen, Isoco, Ronchi Matthew, Jean-Jacques Rojer, Yuri Honing, Reno Steba, Moon Baker, The Plocktones, Paoli Mejias, and Cubop City Big Band made it a truly international festival of the highest calibrer. Local Aruban artists and groups performing at the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival where Delbert Bernabela, Robert Jeandor, Johnny Scharbaay, Ivan Jansen, Ricardo Garcia, Antonio Bello and young Serghio Jansen, Jemm, Sonic Lab, and Soul Cowboy. Both editions of the festival were a wonderful opportunity for artists to enjoy the performances of their peers, and a treat for audiences to relax on the lawn, chill in the auditorium, or mellow and nibble at the Open-air Lounge while listening to some of the best improve on earth.
