About Tango Extremo
Performing an amazingly rich beautiful musical duel, Quinteto Tango Extremo has touched the hearts of many around the world. The young violinist Tanya Schaap has been performing with an unusual but captivating occupation, regarding the accordion and soprano saxophone.
Passionate violin and soprano parties make you feel like you’re the main character in your own play. What makes it surprisingly fresh and even more captivating, is the blending of the sensuous Tango music with funky jazz, touching classical music and energetic Brazilian elements. Quinteto Tango Extremo shows that Tango means living, means dancing, means shadow sides in the sun. Tango, the game of hide and seek. Of distrust and believing.

Projects
CARNAVAL DE BUENOS AIRES
“Carnaval de Buenos Aires” is a project in collaboration with the Argentinean guitarist and composer Gustavo Mozzi. “Carnaval de Buenos Aires” takes you along to a sleepless and sultry Buenos Aires; the city that is alive 24 hours a day. The most typical style of music coming from Argentina might perhaps be the Tango, but this country possesses the cradle of so many more musical styles: Milonga, Murga, Chacarera and Candombe to name some. They are all just as much about sensuality and passion as the Tango. In this combination and with this program the group has realized four tours throughout Europe and China so far. In 2006 they played during the final concert of the Carnevale di Venezia for over 30.000 people audience at the San Marco Square.
Viva la Vida!
Tango Extremo’s latest project! On tour from January 2011! What can we expect from this program? ‘Viva La Vida’ is an ode to love, ode to life in all its strength, but also its fragility. The happy moments but also the less fortunate. An ode to the sun but also to the shadow. Short: Life in all its facets. As you probably know by now the Quinteto Tango Extremo has always tried to mark their own path and that’s what the group will show in this project as well. Besides typical Tango themes you will also come accross Dutch golden oldies like ‘Het dorp’ by Jean Ferrat and ‘Muis in de supermarket’ by Harry Bannink, but all in incredible Tango arrangements! This show is brought to you in cooperation with special guests: Armando Vidal: percussions and Gabriella y Rene: Tango dance couple
